Point Reyes Birding and Nature Festival- Point Reyes coastal headlands guided walk by Dr. Sarah Allen and sanctuary educator, Jennifer Stock
When: 8:00am-12:00pm
Where: Point Reyes National Seashore
What: Join guide and author, Sarah Allen and NOAA/national marine sanctuary educator, Jennifer Stock for a morning exploring pelagic life at Point Reyes National Seashore at Point Reyes Headlands. Jutting out nearly 20-miles to the open ocean, the Point Reyes Headlands are an ideal location for spotting migrating pelagic life, including Pacific Gray Whales, Northern Elephant Seals, Pacific Harbor Seals, and thousands of nesting seabirds. The area provides views of the Greater Farallones and Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuaries, federal marine protected areas where thousands of birds and fish, as well as whales, sharks, seals and other marine life feed from the cold, nutrient-rich waters. 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the National Marine Sanctuary System and the 60th anniversary of Point Reyes National Seashore. Join us as we “Get into the Sanctuary” by exploring its rugged edges and the Marine Wilderness of Point Reyes National Seashore. *Note, this walk is part of a privately sponsored nature festival and requires fee and registration, to learn more and register click here.
